POPE FRANCIS APPOINTS BISHOP LAMBERT TO REPLACE ARCHBISHOP BAKYENGA

Following the retirement of archbishop Paul K Bakyenga as the archbishop of Mbarara archdiocese ,pope Francis has today appointed Bishop Lambert Beinomugisha as the new archbishop of the archdiocese.
Archbishop Bakyenga retired at an age of 75 years as per Catholic constitution. Every priest should stop active service at the age of 75 years.
The Archdiocese covers Kigezi Ankole Rwenzori (Toro) and Bunyoro.
Bishop Lambert was born 12 July 1961 in Kashumba Bukanga Isingiro.
Lambert Beinomugisha studied in Uganda and Canada where he obtained Canon law through the university of st paul Ottowa .
He was ordained priest on 13th July 1991 at Mbarara cathedral.
Lambart exercised his pastoral ministry for several years at Rubindi parish .He then returned to Canada to complete his studies .He later acted as the diocesan chancellor from 2000-2005.
On 2nd July 2005 he was appointed the auxiliary Bishop for the archdiocese of Mbarara and titular Bishop of Tacia Montana.he received episcopal consecration as a bishop on Oct.2005.
Lambert’s first assignment is to establish the already approved diocese of Bushenyi diocese to be situated at either St. Kagwa or Kitabi catholic parishes.
