PRESIDENT MUSEVENI FAILS FULFILLING PLEDGES OF TARMACKING ROADS IN KIGEZI.

Residents in Kigezi region are protesting against President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s unfulfilled pledges of tarmacking roads in the region but they are still in poor state.
During the 2016 general election campaigns,President Museveni pledged to tarmac all roads in the region as a way of improving tourism sector in the area.
The roads in question including a 14 Kilometer Kisoro-Kabindito Mgahinga Gollira national park, Kisoro – Rubuguri road that connects to Buhoma in Kanungu through Bwindi Impenetrable National
park.
Others are Muko, Rushaga to Rubuguri road, Hamurwa, Rutenga, Kanungu road, Kanyantorogo, Butogota to Mpungu road, Butogota to Bwindi road and Kihihi to Kasese road.
Kanungu district Chairperson Can Josephine Kasya says that she has on several occasions been embarrassed by tourists who get stuck in the roads especially whenever it rains, and this has hindered their schedule.
The Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities Prof Ephraim Kamuntu says that roads will be tarmacked in this financial year 2019/2010.
He adds that president Museveni chaired a meeting between the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Tourism to consider these roads alongside other tourism infrastructure facilities.
