PRISONS AUTHORITIES WANT HIGH PROFILE CRIMINAL SUSPECTS BE PRODUCED IN COURT ON HANDCUFFS

Judiciary has been asked to allow government prisons authorities to produce suspects in court while on handcuffs as a measure to prevent them from escape.
The call was made by the greater Masaka Regional Prisons Commander; Kenneth Mugabiirwe, who said that allow high profile criminals should be handcuffed while in court docks since it has emerged that they can escape.
Mugabiirwe was speaking to journalists after the police had arrested one Musa Galiwango; one of the suspects who escaped from Masaka High Court last month.
Galwango was arrested last night from Rwashamire Ntungamo where he had been hiding since he escaped from Masaka high court on 1st March this year.
Samson Kasasiira Rwizi region Police spokesperson said that police trailed him for almost a week and on the time of his arrest he tried to run away but police shot him and is now receiving treatment at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital and will be handed over to prisonsafter discharge.
At the time of his arrest he was found with a Pistol gun with no ammunitions and a suspected stolen motor vehicle Bajaj Boxer Reg. No.UAP 064A which is not at Mbarara central Police station.
Galiwango’s colleague Muhammad Kiddawalime whom they escaped together was last week killed by a mob in Mukoko Village, Kalungu District as he tried to break into someone’s a house.
