PROF. MONDO KAGONYERA WARNS UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ON STRIKES

President Yoweri Museveni has reappointed former State Minister for Privatization Prof Mondo Kagonyera as chancellor of Kabale University for the second term.
Prof. Kagonyera, who formerly served as Chancellor Makerere University was on November 4th 2016 installed as the first Kabale University chancellor by President Museveni.
He replaced retired Supreme Court Judge Justice George Wilson Kanyeihamba.
The university council reportedly recommended for the reappointment of Prof Mondo for a second term.
Commenting on his reappointment, Prof Mondo thanked the Kabale university senate and the university council that recommended him for reappointment and vowed to work hard to see that Kabale University develops.
Meanwhile, Prof Mondo yesterday presided over the 5th graduation at the university in which he warned higher institutions against using strikes to solve their challenges.
“You are educated people; why don’t you use your brains to solve conflicts? Why shouldn’t we be different from sugarcane workers who express their anger by destroying things,” he said.
He also urged graduates to practice a saving culture and to be creative in order to survive in this world.
“We are here to celebrate your achievement, with the calculations obtained today; you have been armed with the keys to success in your different disciplines. It’s now up to you to put the knowledge and skills obtained from Kabale University to good use for the benefit of yourselves, the community and the nation at large’’
A total of 1066 students attained their qualifications in various disciplines.
The celebrations were organized under the theme “embracing digital solutions for borderless university engagements.”
