PUPILS, TEACHERS TURN UP IN SMALL NUMBERS IN KABAROLE SCHOOLS TODAY
By Sylvia Kugonza
In Kabarole
Although teachers under their umbrella UNATU yesterday called off their strike, there was low turn up of pupils in most schools in Kabarole district for the beginning of the second term.
When our reporter toured in some of the government schools which include Bukuku primary school, Komunyampere primary school and Kangi primary school, discovered that there was both low turn up of teachers and pupils.
At Komunyampere, out of 800 pupils only 200 had turned up and out of 16 teachers, only 10 turned up intern students.
At Bukuku primary school, out of 500,150 pupils turned up and only 15 teachers.
However some pupils who did not want to disclose their names and voices, condemned their teachers for not coming to teach them saying that they pay gratuity funds thus they don’t see the reasons why teachers are not coming to teach them.
The pupils added that teachers should know that they are the ones loosing at the end of the term.
Meanwhile our reporter tried to get a comment from the District Education Officer Mr. .Rwakaikara Patrick but failed.
