RDC, HOSPITAL CHAIRMAN CLASH OVER FUNDRAISING

In Masindi
Masindi Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma, and the chairperson Masindi main hospital health management committee, Muhamoud Kazimbiraine have attacked each other over a fundraising aimed at soliciting money to improve the state of Masindi hospital.
The two clashed during the dialogue organized by Community Driven Network (CODNET) Uganda on the emerging issues in Masindi hospital which was held at the district health offices on Friday.
According to Kazimbiraine, he wrote a concept note indicating that Masindi hospital is in a pathetic situation and needs to be assisted through a fundraising.
But Nyakahuma said that the document which was written to the Diaspora pleading for assistance has gone viral on social media.
He also said that the document also indicated that they resorted to doing the fundraising after realizing that government had failed to do something to improving Masindi hospital.
Nyakahuma warned Kazimbiraine and his team to stop playing cheap politics noting that the hospital management committee should know its limits.
However, Kazimbiraine said that in 2010 Masindi hospital was supposed to get 28 million dollars for its reconstruction but the money was channeled to Kiryandongo hospital and yet their leaders could not follow the matter.
He added that the fundraising has been okayed by the permanent secretary Ministry of health, Diana Atwine, hence calling upon residents of Masindi to turn up for the fundraising slated for 21 august 2019 in big numbers and give out their contribution.
However, Nyakahuma insisted that they cannot accept any fundraising which is not sanctioned advising that the people championing it should write to the permanent secretary ministry of health, Chief administrative officer, RDC, and the District health officer.
