The deputy Resident District Commissioner for Masindi, Sanon Dhaala, has cautioned grasshopper harvesters against involving children in their business.
Dhaala threatens that whoever is found using children in the business will face arrest.
According to the presidential representative, the law is against using children under the age of 18, stressing that when children are introduced to such businesses, they are exposed to money, thus jeopardizing their education.
He also cautioned parents and guardians to watch the movements of their children during this holiday and monitor their movements.
Dhaala’s warning comes at a time when grasshopper harvesters have resumed their business.
In 2023 case of rape was reported at Masindi police station where teenager was allegedly defiled by people claiming to go and harvest grass hoppers in Kirasa cell central division masindi municipality.
Related to above, another child lost his life after stepping on the electric wire connected by the grass hopper harvester within the same cell all just few years after the other.
