It was meant to a dark day in 1977 at west Ankole diocese in western Uganda when newly consecrated bishop Bamunoba received a call from dictator president Idda Amin Dad’s office by a soldier born in Ankole.

The soldier who never identified himself told Bishop Bamunoba now bed ridden in late 90s on a land line telephone that President Idd Amin Dada had instructed them to come to west Ankole and kill him.
The soldier advised the Bishop to ensure that hides very far and secret. Dictator Amin had just killed the archbishop of Uganda Jonan Lumu in cold blood in the same year.

After receiving the call, Bishop Bamunoba started shaking. He called his so called close friend Canon Yorokam Bashaaha to come with his vehicle and evacuate him to safer place.

Canon Yorokam Bashaasha refused to go to Bweranyangi hill to rescue the man of God. Bishop Bamunoba became absolutely warried and went and hide in a swamp below Bweranyangi junior school. He covered himself with a huge and long jacket and left only the face.

Mzee Zedekia Karookora who was veterinary officer for greater Bushenyi and Ntungamo districts now emerged at the scene and found Bishop Bamunoba very worried hiding in a swamp below Bweranyangi junior school.

Mzee Karookora who is retired in mashonga kyamuhunga sub county Bushenyi district told www.mknewslink.com managing director in Bushenyi town at mk news link .com offices for the second time last month that when he saw the bishop he became sympathetic and Bishop Bamunoba requested him to rescue him because canon Bashaasha had betrayed him.

Mzee karookora in his late 70s told www.mknewslink.com MD he was going to Bweranyangi girls ss to visit his girlfriend who was a teacher at the school.
Mzee Karookora evacuated the Bishop in his car to Nyakitoko in Burere sub-county Now Buhweju district.
He added that he hid Bishop Bamunoba at the home of Rev. Kacence.

He added that after realizing that the bishop was safe, he drove back to his original business of visiting his girlfriend a teacher at Bweranyangi girls and found many Amin soldiers surrounding the bishop’s residence and Bweranyangi cathedral meaning that had it not been Mzee Karookora, Bishop Bamunoba was to be killed after canon Bashaasha’s betrayal.
