There is frustration and grief among family members and residents of Booma Village Butiaba sub county in Buliisa district after failing to retrieve remains of a child that was snatched by a crocodile on Wednesday morning at around 11;00am this week.
The deceased was identified as one Nasan a son to Pastor Wilson Tumwine a resident of Boma Village Landing Site in Butiaba town council Buliisa District.
According to residents, efforts to retrieve the remains were futile despite several searches by divers and fishermen using boats, and so relatives decided to burry clothes.
Speaking yesterday afternoon, the Chairperson LC 1 Boma Village landing site Deo Ntakimanye said that after the incident, they had to organize for several operations on the breeding areas where the crocodile caught and killed the child to search for the body but all in vain.
Ntakimanye said the family members then decided to burry clothes of the deceased as it is done culturally since the body could not be found after several operations both day and night.
He said the burial was held yesterday at Boma village landing site in Butiaba town council Buliisa District.
He added that the floods have enabled the predators to come near the lake shores.
