Concerned citizens from Fort portal municipality Kabarole district has dragged Fort Portal municipality to the inspectorate general of government over gross mismanagement of USMID and national road funds for the 2017,2018,and 2019 financial years.
In a letter dated 7th -01-2019 written by concerned citizens led by Musinguzi David and Kahwa Erinem all residents of Fort portal municipality claim that Fort portal municipality has misused 1Bn shillings meant for the construction of Kibongo Road that connects Fort portal town to Kamwenge road.
They claim that the road has not even served for a year but already have potholes which is as a result of poor construction materials and with no drainage facilities to allow water flow and worse of it all the municipal authorities have never given accountability for the funds.
The residents also accuse the municipality for misuse of over 80M shillings for street solar lights whose cost was exaggerated to the cost of 14M each and with no legal procurement procedures followed to allow competent and potential suppliers supply F/PM quality and durable street solar panels/ system.
This is evident by the fact that Fort portal municipality procurement committee never advertised to the public the supply of these street solar systems to give room for different bidders to apply which could have been of an advantage for council to get competent suppliers, residents say.
Therefore they are calling for the intervention of the IGG office fort portal to task for portal municipality to give a proper accountability of the funds used for purposes of transparency.
