RESIDENTS LYNCH MAN IN RUKIGA OVER NEIGHBOR’S DEATH

Police in Rukiga are investigating circumstances under which two people died on Saturday night.

The victims identified as Lawrence Mwesigwa aged 35 yrs and Mugarura Amoni aged 20 years are both residents of Nyamirima cell Rwenyangye parish Kamwezi subcounty Rukiga district.

It is said that on Saturday night, Mwesigwa Lawrence was discovered unconscious in a stream of water in the same village and rushed to Rwenyangye health centre II where he died at around 05:00hours Sunday morning.

After his death, the concerned residents attacked Amoni Mugarura whom they suspected to had killed Mwesigwa since they had a conflict recently and also murdered him in cold blood.

The Kigezi region Police spokesperson Elly Matte told www.mknewslink.com  reporter that  the mob went and got Mugarura from the grandmother’s house and lynched him near the home of the first victim.

Police were notified, visited the scene and post-mortem was done on both bodies then handed over to relatives for burial.

The case was registered at Rukiga police station on CRBs 109/2020 and reference number 110/2020.
