RETIRED TEACHER HACKS MOTHER TO DEATH OVER WILL IN RUKUNGIRI

Police in Rukungiri are hunting for a retired primary teacher who allegedly hacked his mother to death over a will left by his late father.
The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson Elly Maate identified the suspect as James Librarian 62 years a retired primary school teacher and a resident of Rwentaka village Kisizi parish Nyarushanje sub-county in Rukungiri district.
It is alleged that the suspect together with others who are all still at large cut to death Karabaye Federesi aged 80years resident of the above address.
According to Maate, the suspect and the deceased have had a long term disagreement over the will that was left behind by the suspect’s late father 7 years ago.
Maate said that the suspect has on several occasions forced the mother to change the will but she refused which prompted him to always threaten her.
IP Maate revealed that on the 2nd June, 2022 at around 2000hrs, the suspect and three others yet to be identified surrounded her house ans she was heard making an alarm that they were killing her.
The respondent Assumputa (biological daughter to the deceased) informed area chairman who in turn reported the incident at Rwakaraba police post.
Scene was visited and documented by DCID/O and team, body was taken to Rwakabengo health center III for postmortem.
Inquiries are underway and efforts to let those involved be arrested are being made.
The case of murder by cutting was registered at Rukungiri Central Police station under reference number CRB: 471/2022.
