REV. KIDNAPPED, ROBBED OF 1.15M UGX, DUMPED ALIVE

Police in Kisoro are hunting for un known people who on 11th Dec.2020 kidnapped a reverend, robbed his 1,150,000shillings before dumping him along Chanika –Kisoro road.
The Rev. Robert Mufutundinda, 41, of Kasaza Ward in Nyarutovu village in Bunagana Town Council in Kisoro district was reportedly kidnapped on Friday on his way from the Chanika border point.
According to Kigezi region spokesperson Elly Maate, the priest was kidnapped by people driving a salon car on his way from Chanika trading centre, where he said he had gone to exchange money.
The priest’s wife, Dinavence Zawedde, told Police that she had left her husband at Giharo Church of Uganda, where he serves as priest, and went to the garden at around 11am on Friday.
She reported not finding him home later that day.
Zawedde told Police that she anxiously waited until 10:30pm, hoping he would return. She instead received a call from the husband’s phone number telling her that he had been kidnapped by unknown people that were threatening to take his life.
They reportedly demanded an unspecified ransom.
Another call came through shortly after, with the speaker on the other end of the line instructing Zawedde to send money to them or else they would kill her husband.
Shaken, Zawedde said she immediately rushed out and reported the matter to Bunagana police, who launched a search for the captive.
But towards 6am the following morning (Saturday), the victim was reportedly found by his relatives in Rwankoni village, Nyakabingo parish in Chai sub-county. He was unable to speak and could only respond through written messages.
The priest told his family that his captors had taken him away along the Chanika-Kisoro road in a car, robbed him of sh1.15m and later dumped him along the way.
It was not immediately clear whether he had been tortured. He was taken to Kisoro Hospital, where he was admitted for medical care.
Meanwhile, Maate said the Police had started investigated the case.
