RUBANDA DRUG ADDICT SHATTERS WIFE’S HEAD, ATTEMPTS SUICIDE

Police in Rubanda are investigating circumstances under which a 28 year old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband who also attempted to commit suicide.

The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson Elly Maate identified the deceased as Barbra Kyomuhendo a wife to the suspect Owen Akampurira 40 years, both residents of Mwiguriro cell Kakore parish Hamurwa Sub County in the Rubanda.

It’s alleged that on 12/06/2022 at around 0600hrs, residents of Mwiguriro cell heard alarms coming from the home of the deceased. And rushed only to find all the doors and windows closed.

Sources say they then started throwing stones on the roof plus making noise to threaten the suspect but the alarms later died down and they broke into the house where they found the deceased lying in a pool of blood with several cuts on her body and her husband Akampurira lying next to her with a cut on his throat but still breathing.

Residents say the suspect is a known drug addict and the couple had domestic violence issues in their home.

Police were notified by the area local council chairman one Francis Ndyeija and scene was visited by DCIDO Rubanda D/Asp Aine Bernice and team, body of the deceased was found in the bedroom facing the door, the head was split open and brain matter and blood was scattered all over the room.

The suspect had been pulled out of the room by residents and had a cut across his neck but was still alive.

The body of deceased and suspect were taken to Kabale RRH for postmortem and treatment respectively.

The case of murder and attempted suicide was registered at Rubanda Central Police station under reference number CRB: 185/22.
