Nyamweru Secondary School sports day turned into a political campaign between the Rubanda district chairman LCV and the Rubanda east legislator.
The Rubanda district chairman LC5 Jogo Keneth Biryabarema has already declared to contest on the Rubanda east parliamentary seat which currently occupied by Hon. Henry Musasiizi.
The function was held at Nyamweru Secondary School play grounds and was meant equip
students physically and develop their talents.
However, it was marred by the leaders fighting to be the ones who brought the Nyamweru secondary school which has just turned into a seed school.
It all started when the LCV Chairperson Rubanda district Jogo said that through a section of councilors they fought and approved that school be considered by government as the seed school in Nyamweru Sub County.
Biryabarema told parents at the function that Musasizi tried all efforts to frustrate the implementation of the 2.1 billion project aimed at uplifting education standards in the sub county.
He claimed that the legislator was driven by his selfish ambition of portraying district council leaders as non-performers before their electorate.
The Rubanda east legislator Musasizi who was the guest of honor accompanied by his hired Boda Boda supporters insisted and bounced the LC V Chairperson, Kenneth Jogo saying he is the one who built the school.
Hon. Henry Musasizi further declined to hold a microphone that Biryabarema was using to address.
Nyamweru Sub County LC 3 Chairperson,
David Karindugu Twinobusingye and Henry Ariganyira Musasizi; the Rubanda
County East Member of Parliament reportedly petitioned the Public
Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority- PPDA and Education
Ministry demanding to shift the project to Ruhija Sub County in Rubanda West
County.
The dispute attracted the attention of the Prime Minister; Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda
who ordered that the project remains in Nyamweru as planned.
