In Rubanda—
Residents in Bufundi Sub County Rubanda district are protesting the shoddy work done on rehabilitation of the Nfasha Kagunga- Habuhutu road.
The road connects the areas of Kagunga, Mugyera, and Habuhutu among other areas, linking different social services like Mugyera Health center two, Kagunga Health center two and schools and churches.
Residents led by the Kagunga LC2 Chairperson Alfunsi Babyebuza, Dickens Kiconco, Andrew Tumukunde, Willy Elikana say that last week during the rehabilitation of the road, the tractor operator whom they only identified as Moses, left the soil in the middle of the road which has paralyzed transport means.
They say that it is the only road that transports patients to health services, their harvests and timber to market but wonder why the district took off the tractor before the completion of the rehabilitation which has delayed transport means and increased accidents.
The Rubanda district Secretary for works Ms Adrine Tibenda admits the challenge of shoddy works saying that she will find out why the tractor was taken to other places before completion of exercise.
The Rubanda District Woman Member of parliament who is also the chairperson of roads committee in the district, Ms Prossy Akampurira Begumisa said that she will lob for big culverts to fix in the road because the district has small ones.
When Mk Newslink.com contacted the Rubanda district engineer Nobert Nzungu, he said that he is not authorized to comment about the matter.
