RUBANDA SCHOOLS CLOSED OVER STRIKE, ONE KILLED

Rubanda high school and Nyaruhanga high school in Rubanda district have been closed following a violent fight between students of both schools which claimed a life a student.
Anselm Niwahereza aged 15 a senior two student of Nyaruhanga High school in Murole town council, a resident of Rwamugasha Village in Nyamweru Sub County, was killed following clashes between the school students and those of Rubanda High School on Tuesday evening. Another student whose identities are not yet identified was admitted at Junamagara Ministries Clinic in Murole town council in critical condition.
The angry students went on rampage on Tuesday evening when Nyaruhanga High school stormed Rubanda High School accusing Aggrey Mashemererwa, a senior four student of Rubanda High School for stealing a school bag from one of their colleagues.
According to Rubanda district police commander Ramadan Tai, preliminary investigations indicate that Nyaruhanga High school students attacked Rubanda high school with hunting for Mashemererwa.
He says that the meeting between police, school administrators of both schools and Rubanda district education officials unanimously resolved both schools to be closed to avoid further attacks.
The Director of Rubanda High School Wycliffe Byereta has refuted claims that his students murdered Niwahereza, a senior two student of Nyaruhanga High School. Byereta says that when the incident happened the students were at school guarded by police.
