RUBANDA WOMAN MP TELLS YOUTH TO JOIN VOC. INSTITUTES TO ESCAPE POVERTY

The Rubanda woman member of parliament Prosy Begumisa Akampurira advised students to join vocational training institutes as a route to escape the biting poverty and unemployment.
Akampurira was speaking to the media in Rubanda district.
Akampurira said that it is wrong for parents to think that their children can only be successful in life if they join universities.
The legislator revealed that joining A ‘level is wastage of time and money because universities consumes all the money which may be used by youth to start up commercial ventures as a route to escape the biting poverty and unemployment.
She added that the government of Uganda has constructed more that 1000 institutions countrywide which are meant to address the challenges of lack of productive skills and unemployment in our country especially among the youth.
Akampurira also noted that the only way the youth in the country can tackle widespread unemployment is by engaging in economically viable business.
However the legislator asked the youth not to wait for handouts from their relatives or government but start up income generating projects
