The south Western Region Inspectorate of Government offices have arrested Rubirizi District Health Officer Dr. Tibende Sete and Rubirizi District Health Inspector Jennifer Kyarimpa on allegations of embezzling ugx.122 million, funds meant for COVID 19 support activities.
According to Fredrick Oketch the South western Regional Inspectorate officer in IGG’s office, around March last year the two officers requested for the said money to carry-out COVID 19 activities but in instead mismanaged it .
He added that from investigations, a tune of ugx.122 million was falsely accounted for, which caused financial loss to government.
Oketch noted that the two government officers requested for the money in pretense of organising trainings for Village health teams which they never held.
He further said the same officers got the receipts of the supplier who was pre-qualified and used her receipts to account for this money who later denied making the supply and the village health team members also denied attending the training.
Oketch noted that the two would appear before the Anti-corruption court tomorrow to answer charges of causing financial loss to government.
