RUHAAMA COUNTY BY-ELECTION ROAD MAP RELEASED

In Ntungamo–
Following the death of of Ruhaama county MP Beijukye William Zinkuratiire early this month, the Electoral commission has issued a roadmap for a by- election of a new MP and local government councils.
According to the program released by Electoral commission chairman Justice Simon Byabakama yesterday, the electoral process will start on Monday 27thto 1st Dec with updating of registers at parish level.
December 11th-20th, there will be display of the register in Ruhaama county
December 11th-13th: Interested people will be nominated at Ntungamo district Electoral Commission headquarters
December 1st: There will be joint meeting for all contestants at the NRM headquarters Ntungamo
There will be campaigns for special interest groups from Dec 15th -5th January 2018 and for MP seat will start 15th to 09th Jan 2018.
Polling day for;
- Special interest group will be on 9thJanuary 2018
- Direct elected MP and councilors will be on 11thJanuary 2018
Addressing the media today, the Ntungamo district EC Returning officer Robert Beine noted that they will start next week with demarcating of electoral areas in the newly created sub counties and town councils.
Beine revealed that Ruhaama County has 242,000 people in 9 sub counties and 3 town councils, 50 parishes, 386 villages, 199 polling stations and 115,938 voters by 30th October 2017.
Meanwhile the NRM has also released its roadmap starting from 24th-27th with picking of nomination forms for MPs and other posts of Chairman LCIII, Councilors and special interest groups which are vacant after creation of some administrative Units in Ruhaama County.
Addressing reporters at the party electoral commission headquarters plot 13 Kyadondo, Kampala on Thursday, Tanga Odoi, the NRM electoral commission chairperson issued minimum requirements for all aspirants.
November 27th-6th: There will be an update of the register in Ruhaama county
November 29th-30th: Interested people will return the forms to the NRM Electoral Commission headquarters
December 1st: There will be joint meeting for all contestants at the NRM headquarters Ntungamo
December 1st-06th: There will be campaigns
December 08: Polling day for NRM flag bearers.
Over 20 people have shown interest to contest on NRM tick to replace the fallen MP Zinkuratiire including Francis Twesigye the former Ntungamo District Health educator, Tom Rwomushana the former Chairman LCIII Ruhaama and Eng Jackson Mubangizi Kabeikire among others.
