RUHAAMA MP ASPIRANT, KAKYENE ATTACKS NTUNGAMO RDC FOR TAKING SIDES

IN NTUNGAMO—
Former Ruhaama county Member of Parliament aspirant Santrina Namanya
Kakyene has clashed with the Ntungamo Resident district commissioner
Justine Mbabazi over police brutality and partisan during elections.
This was yesterday during stakeholder’s consultative meeting for Ruhaama county
constituency By-election at Ankole Resort and spa hotel in Ntungamo
municipality organised by Independent electoral commission.
Ruhaama county seat fell vacant following the death of Ruhaama county MP
Beijukye William Zinkuratiire on 4th November this year.
It all started when Kakyene accused Ntungamo district security officials
for arresting and beating his supporters in 2016 elections. He also claims
that during 2016 elections the security officials threw their weight behind
Late Zinkuratire.
He however said that if such habits do not stop in forthcoming elections,
it may cause bloodshed. He also said that electoral commission failed to
avail results of 14polling stations.
However when Mbabazi took over the podium, accused Kakyene for inciting
violence during elections. She said that all of his supporters who were
arrested had been got from neighboring district. Mbabazi however vowed
to arrest Kakyene in the forthcoming general elections if he behaves the
same.
The Acting Chairperson Electoral commission Hajjat Aisha Lubega Basajjanaku
said that security officials should not to be partisan during elections.
She however said that as electoral commission will deploy to ensure
security during the process.
Ruhaama county constituency elections will be held on 11th January 2018.
