The territorial police of Rukiga are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 60 years old man whose body was discovered cut without some body parts.
The deceased was identified as Michael Kyarugahi a resident of Rushebeya cell Rwamucucu sub county Rukiga district.
Elly Maate the Kigezi Region police spokesperson told our reporter that the wife of the deceased identified as Katushabe Gorret informed police that on 2nd /03/2023 at around 02:00p the deceased left home to Rushebeya trading center for his social hours and never returned.
Maate said that On 3rd/03/2023 in the morning hours, the wife went and reported the case to the area LC1 Rushebeya cell Mr. Aggrey Bakahya, who mobilized the community members and they conducted search but all in vein.
Meanwhile today morning 4th/03/2023 they resumed the search and found the deceased,’s body floating in a swamp, just a few meters from Rushebeya trading center.
Maate said that residents informed police, scene was visited and processed, body retrieved without the head and right arm which body parts are still missing.
The body was taken to Kabale referral hospital mortuary for postmortem as inquiries continue to establish the perpetrators and for which motive the body parts were cut for.
The Police Spokesperson notes that Case of murder by cutting was registered at Rukiga District under reference number CRB: 122/2023.
