RUKIGA DISTRICT COUNCILORS WANT CAO FIRED OVER ABSENTEEISM

Fredrick Ssemogerere, the Rukiga District Chief Administrative Officer is on the spot for alleged incompetence.

District staff and political leaders accuse Ssemogerere of continuously absenting himself from work and failing to oversee the implementation of district projects.

They note that Ssemogerere is rarely seen in office, but always in Kampala leaving the office unattended to. He is also being accused of failing to implement council resolutions.

A civil servant who spoke on condition of anonymity said that as a result of the absenteeism of the CAO, work has been crippled.

Jackson Muganiizi, the Rukiga vice LCV Chairperson, said that failure to implement council resolutions has left the district projects on a standstill. Muganiizi said that Ssemogerere rejected to approve funds to facilitate a tour of councillors to Masaka.

Alexander Kampikaho, the Rukiga LCV Chairperson wants Ssemogerere to be transferred.

Kampikaho alleged that Ssemogerere has on several occasions influenced the Clerk to Council Gordon Tabaro to alter council resolutions.

However, Ssemogerere said that the accusations against him are false. He blamed the mess in the district on Kampikaho who is fighting him to gain political sympathy.

According to Ssemogerere, there is no council resolution that he has failed to implement except funding of the Councillors tour which was due to lack of funds.
