In Rukiga—
The Rukiga District Chairperson Alexander Kampikaho on Monday 12 clashed with the Rukiga District Woman Member of Parliament Caroline Kamusiime Muhwezi and officials from the Ministry of Water and Environment over five billion shillings project to renovate and revamp piped water in Rukiga district.
The trio clashed before engineers from the Ministry of Water and Environment while meeting LC1 chairpersons from Rwamucucu Sub County at the sub county headquarters in Rukiga district.
Kampikaho accused Hon. Kamusiime and officials from the Ministry of Water and Environment for coming to consult LC1 chairpersons on five billion shillings project to renovate piped water without contacting and consulting the district leaders.
He accused Lavic Mucunguzi Kagooro, an administrator from the Ministry of Water and Environment South Western Umbrella of Water and Sanitation for intimidating the chairpersons that if they fail to support the project, they will take it other districts.
Kampikaho says that he will not accept the project to start in the district, unless the officials write a report to him.
However, Mucunguzi said that he was not intimidating the chairpersons but wanted to implore them to look after the project so that the equipment that will be used in the project is not vandalized.
The Rukiga District Woman Member of Parliament Caroline Kamusiime Muhwezi apologized for not informing the district leaders in time but promised to always inform them in time.
The project will involve rehabilitating water sources, pipes tanks and taps within the district.
