RUKIGA, KABALE DISTRICTS RECEIVE COVID-19 VACCINES

Rukiga district has on Friday 12th March 2021 received 1,560 doses of covid-19 AstraZeneca vaccine.
The vaccine was delivered at Rukiga district headquarters in Mparo Town council by officials from the ministry of health and received by the health officials together with the RDC at 9am.
Speaking to our reporter the RDC Rukiga district Ms PrikeriaMuhindo, confirmed that they had received the vaccine and they will on Wednesday 17th March 2021 start vaccinating the selected groups.
“We shall eventually start with the health workers and then other groups which we see that are at risk of being infected and are above 18 years will follow,” The RDC revealed.
Rukiga district has set 4 vaccination centers that is Mparo HC IV, Kamwezi HC IV, Bukinda HC iii and Kashambya HC iii.
Meanwhile, the District Health Officer for Kabale Alfred Besigensi revealed that they have also received a total of 4,120 doses of AstraZeneca Covid 19 vaccine.
Besigensi said that the medicine was received well and has been packed in medical stores at the district where it will be distributed to five centers that were sited and designated to hold the vaccination exercise.
The five centers that were sited and designated include; Kabale regional referral hospital, Rugarama hospital, Rushoroza hospital, Rubaya health center IV and Maziba health center IV.
Among the groups to be vaccinated first are Elderly people, Teachers, Security personnel’s and Doctors where Besigensi revealed that over 800 have been registered so far.
Besigensi called upon people to be patient for they still need some logistics as the health department to let vaccination kickoff.
