The Rukiga district chairperson Alex Kampikaho has attacked the Kihanga archdeacon Obed Turihohabwe for allegedly promoting sectarianism.
Kampikaho while speaking at the burial in Siindi ward, Mparo Town council in Rukiga district accused Turihohabwe of fighting Catholics especially Michael Mbareeba who had stood for chairmanship in the recently concluded elections.
Mbareeba who is now serving as the Rukiga district vice chairperson lost to National Resistance Movement’s NRM Robert Mbabazi Kakwerere in a hotly contested chairmanship race though mbareeba petitioned the electro commission for re account of some areas citing irregularities.
However, Dr. Kampikaho angrily said that most church leaders, especially the Anglican churches, never supported Mbareeba because he was a catholic.
Kampikaho stressed that he was last month shocked when he sent his vice chairperson Michael Mbareeba to Kihanga church of Uganda to educate Christians about COVID 19 and the reopening of schools but Obed denied him a chance to address the congregation.
He however threatened that as the district authorities they are looking for a way forward on how to handle the matter urging that the above archdeacon showed him that he was very stupid to appoint Mbareeba as his vice chairperson. .
Dr Alexander Kampikaho has been the Rukiga district LC5 since 2017 and overwhelmingly lost in the Rukiga county Parliamentary race in the 4th September 2020 NRM Primary elections.
Efforts to get a comment from the accused archdeacon were futile since his known phone numbers were not going through.
