In Rukiga—
Rukiga District Leaders have joined locals to construct a bridge that connects two parishes with Muhanga Kisizi Road in Bukinda Sub County.
The constructed bridge connects Kyerero and Kandogo parishes and has been a source of water for domestic use and as the main bridge to Muhanga Trading center.
Speaking to our reporter at the scene, the residents narrated that the ruined bridge has been giving them hard times to cross most especially during rainy seasons where the bridge would flood and put them at risk of drawing in the swamp.
Josephat Mucunguzi, and Wilber Muzanira all residents from Kyerero and Kandogo Parishes said that school children and Christians going at Kandago church of Uganda have had a hard time crossing the ruined bridge and that one hard to first remove his /her shoes.
Monica Kyampaire another resident noted that a few months back, she fell down on the motorcycle while at same bridge and experienced miscarriage.
The chairperson LCV Rukiga District Robert Mbabazi Kakwerere called upon residents to always intervene and develop community roads rather than waiting for the situation to escalate while waiting for the government support
He promised the community to work on their Bridge in the Next Financial year and applauded the Woman MP for her tireless efforts towards the development of the district.
The Rukiga District Hon Kamusiime Caroline called upon the leaders to always help the people when they are still alive.
She added she decided to intervene to save the people before drowning in the swamp.
