In Rukiga—
Rukiga District Woman MP Caroline Kamusiime Muhwezi has commissioned two boreholes in Rukiga District worth 32 million shillings.
The two boreholes have been constructed by a NGO Nile Humanitarian Development Agency from Turkey in the villages of Nyarahunga and Kahunyira all in Rwamucucu Sub County.
Speaking to our reporter, the beneficiaries narrated that there has been water scarcity in the area and they have been only using stagnant water from swamps which was also putting them at a risk of acquiring diseases.
Hope Tugume, Simon Kabarebereho and Peace Ahimbisibwe all from Kahunyira and Nyaruhanga cells said that they have been sharing the same water source with animals and sometimes they would be chased away by venomous snakes.
The Chairperson LC III Rwamucucu sub county Eddy Mugisha thanked Kamusiime Caroline for the high efforts rendered to water scarcity villages.
Mugisha called upon the public to own the boreholes and take a personal responsibility, a thing which will gear out for more boreholes in the area.
Joshua Mutabarura the Personal Assistant for Kamusiime Caroline who represented her attributed the presence of boreholes in the area to cooperation between leaders and the legislature
He thanked the woman MP for lobbying from Nile Humanitarian Agency and appreciated the quality of work done by the NGO
The Resident District commissioner Mrs Purikeria Muhindo Mwine urged the public to maintain the boreholes since they are the potential beneficiaries.
