RUKUNGIRI COUPLE DETAINED OVER FRIEND’S MURDER

Police in Rukungiri are holding a couple for allegedly murdered David Mwangirake a 86 year old resident of Rushebeya cell Murama parish Nyakishenyi sub county Rukungiri district.
The suspects have been identified as Benon Baguma and his wife Rosette Tumuhimbise also residents of Rushebeya cell Murama parish Nyakishenyi sub county Rukungiri district.
It is alleged that on the 13/9/2020 at around 1400hrs, the deceased was called by his friend Baguma Benon to share local booze (toonto) at his first home.
The Kigezi region police Spokesperson Elly Matte says that at around 2200hrs, Baguma left the deceased at his first home and went to his second.
Maate says that it is alleged that at unknown time the deceased decided to go back home but did not reach and a case of disappearance was reported on 15/9/2020 at Nyakishenyi police and relatives started tracing for him until 17/8/2020 when he was found in a trench.
Police were notified, scene of crime visited, postmortem done and two suspects who were last seen with the deceased were arrested to help in investigations as inquiries continue.
Murder case was registered at Rukungiri central police under CRB 1738/2020
