RUKUNGIRI LEADERS STORM DISTRICT BOSS’ OFFICE OVER ROAD FUNDS MISMANAGEMENT

Leaders from Buyanja town council have protested against town council leadership and mishandling of 53 million shillingsfrom the Uganda road fundthat was meant to renovate 5 community access roads.
Led by the area district councilorSimon Mwebesa, leaders stormed the office of the chairman LCV Rukungiri on Wednesday 08th May 2019 to seek answers on how the money meant for the renovation of 5 community access roads in Buyanja town council was used.
The roads in question are; Rwenkureijo- Kyamakanda, Buyanja- Kyamakanda Biguri, Rwitabaganda- Rwakirungura road and Katojo-Koranorya.
“The town council leaders and the technical staff are working out their mandate, how can they lie to us that the roads were worked upon yet nothing was done on them!!! We shall continue to fight for the tax payers money,” Mwebesa said.
Peter Batahamu thecouncilor representing elders also the deputy speaker told www.mknewslink.com that town council leadership spent the money on personal issues yet it was meant to benefit the public.
The Rukungiri district Chairperson Charles Andrewson Katebire noted that as a district, they will not sit back and look on as government money is being mishandled.
He promised the leaders a quick solution saying that a team of auditors from Uganda road fund will be sent to Buyanja town council to ensure proper accountability of this money.
In an interview with www.mknewslink.com , the Buyanja town counciltown clerkProsper Tagobya said that all these a just allegations aimed at tarnishing their names.
