RUKUNGIRI MAN ASSAULTED TO DEATH

Police in Rukungiri district are investigating circumstances under which a 30 year old man died.

The Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the deceased as Niwamanya Edward 30 year old a resident of Mukatojo cell, Rubanga parish, Buyanja Sub county Rukungiri district .

 It is alleged that the deceased was assaulted by Andrew Ahereza 32 years bodaboda rider of the same area whom they developed a misunderstanding at a bar in Mukatojo trading centre .

The deceased later left with his brother but when they reached in a banana plantation of one of the residents the deceased felt weak and wanted to rest first so the brother left him there and continued home.

Unfortunately he was yesterday found dead and residents mobilized a mob which destroyed properties of the suspect including house animals .  

The body of the deceased was taken to Rwakabengo health center III mortuary for postmortem.

Elly Maate said the inquiries are still ongoing and the suspect is still on the run.
