RUKUNGIRI MAN SENTENCED TO 30 YEARS IN PRISON FOR BEHEADING FATHER

The court in Rukungiri district presided over by Justice Moses Kazibwe convicted and sentenced 31 years old man to prison for 30 years on charges of murder.
The convict who pleaded guilty for murdering his biological father Philip Batinako 45 was identified as Habasa Daniel a resident of Butomero, Karungu parish, Rugyeyo Subcounty in Kanungu.
The prosecution led by the resident state attorney Rukungiri district Kahingi David told court that on 2/2/2016 at around 5:00am while at their home, Habasa attacked his father’s house with a panga and chopped off his head before running into hidding.
Kahingi added that eye witness one Kyomukama has been threatened by the family members that once she appears to the court she will be killed or arrested.
However Justice Kazibwe said that it is the right of Kyomukama to testify before the court ordered police to investigate into the matter and arrest those that were threatening Kyomukama. He further asked Kyomukama to report to police in case of anything.
Justice Kazibwe while giving his judgment convicted Habasa on own guilt to 30 years in jail but will serve 27years and two months considering the two years and ten months spent on remand.
