RUKUNGIRI MOTHER KILLS MENTALLY ILL SON

Police in Rukungiri are holding a woman on allegations of killing his son.
Beatrice Katire 57 a resident of Nyandiri cell Bwanga Parish
Nyarushanje Sub County is said to have murdered her son in the wee
hours of Wednesday 12th April as he was asleep.
According to the Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Mate, Beatrice
killed is son who was mentally ill.
“We have been told by eyewitnesses that the killed boy was mad and
that they had just returned from hospital a month ago” he said.
The deceased has been identified as Ahumuza Humphery 17.
Beatrice who is currently held at Rukungiri police station confessed
that she killed her son.
“The devil made me act out of my mind I beg for forgiveness” she said.
“My son has been mad, I have taken care of him, I could not have
killed him, but devil (satan) made me do it” she said.
Tukamushaba Joel a neighbor to Beatrice says that the deceased has
been mentally ill for the last three years and he suspects the mother
killed her to get rid of him.
“They have just returned from the hospital the boy has been on chains,
it is less than a month now since they returned, I think the woman was
tired of the son who is mad” he said.
