Rukungiri municipal councilors yesterday tasked their town clerk Theo Tibihika to account for Ugx. 12.2 million which was meant for the foundation of a council hall and administration block.
The tasking came during council sitting that took place at the former teachers resource center in Eastern division Rukungiri municipality after the town clerk failed to satisfy councilors questions on the how the above money was spent.
Hon. Bernard Turyahabwe council representing Kigaga ward in the municipal council told our reporter after council that they agreed as the council to sell old tractors and motorcycles last financial year and use money to construct an office block but up to now nothing is on ground.
Hon. Bernard added that the council later passed another resolution of using the same money to construct a temporary office block but all in vain.
Hon. Emily Turyabagyenyi, council representing disabled people in the council told our reporter that since the selling of the old tractors and motorcycles, they have never seen anything like a brick or a bag of clement coming at the agreed construction site wondering how the town clerk spent money.
However,Theo Tibihika, the town clerk told the council that he did not spend even a single coin out of this money saying that he was only waiting for councilors to confirm this resolution and grant him a permission to start using the money adding that the construction process will commerce early next year.
