RUKUNGIRI MURDER SUSPECT LEADS POLICE TO BODY OF VICTIM
Police in Rukungiri Police station yesterday recovered the body of Mutabazi Sulaiman 57 years who had gone missing following misunderstandings with a witch doctor Mugisha Sulaiman.
The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson Elly Maate says that the body of the deceased was recovered late yesterday from Rweshama swamp by police being led by Mugisha Sulaiman the main suspect.
Maate noted that the victim, a business man who was operating from Omukagoro village Bwambara sub county Rukungiri district, allegedly used to move to the home of the suspect at Rwebinyonyi village, Rwenshama Parish, Bwambara Sub county for witchcraft and had always been seen naked smoking a pipe “emindi” together with his host at his place near the Muram road leading to the landing site.
On the 19/04/2022 at around 2030hrs, the victim was seen entering the same place with his motorcycle and later was heard complaining and quarreling with Mugisha over the money he had spent on his witchcraft but with no solution to his increasing problems.
At around 02:00Am of the 20/04/2022, two motorcycles were heard leaving the witchdoctors home and since then, the victim disappeared.
On the 24/04/2022, one Kakuru Buseni reported the disappearance of his father at Rwenshama Police station, and Cps Rukungiri was accordingly notified.
A team headed by the OC Station one IP Muhairwe Elias moved to the area and Mugisha Sulaiman the main suspect plus his other family members namely; Kesande Shadia aged 25 years, Kyomugisha Emily aged 17 years, Barisigara Silvan aged 32 years, and Mugisha Ramadhan aged 17 years all of Rwebinyonyi village were arrested as they tried to flee the village.
On interrogation, the actual whereabouts of the victim were revealed, the scene was visited, the body retrieved, and was conveyed to Rwakabengo health center 3 for postmortem.
The case of murder was registered at Rukungiri Central Police station under reference number CRB: 335/22.
