RUKUNGIRI PILGRIMS DISRUPTED BY HEAVY RAINS AMIDST JOURNEY TO REACH NAMUGONGO

With only 5 days left to mark 3rd June Uganda Martyrs day celebrations at Namugongo, Pilgrims from Rukungiri district were disrupted by heavy rains amidst their journey to reach the Martyrs Shrine in Namugongo.
James Mucunguzi a pilgrim attached to Christ the King Parish in Rukungiri Municipality told our reporter that heavy rains disrupted their journey as they could move and make stop over’s on their way, by press time a team of 14 Christians had reached Nalukolongo as they are to take a rest at Mapela Orphans home and hope to reach Namugongo on 29th may2019.
Rev. Boaz Murekyezi of All saints church Nyakariro who led a team of 64christians from North Kigezi diocese, also told our reporter that the team had reached their resting place Maaya Church of Uganda in Mpigi district bordering Wakiso district, he noted that the day’s journey was affected by Unstoppable rains thus delaying them to reach their resting point.
Meanwhile, a team of 36 Christians from Nyakibale Parish led by David Byamugisha had reached Katende catholic parish in Mpigi district.
Sensio Ninyikiriza one of the pilgrims noted that rain delayed them to reach Nalukolongo which was to be their resting point thus ending at katende for fear to be hit by heavy rains.
