In Rukungiri—
Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner RDC Stephen Nsubuga Bewayo has threatened to arrest any farmer that sells off animals received from the government.
He warned that whoever sells an animal given to him or her by the government in its efforts to fight poverty shall be arrested as a thief and handed over to police.
The RDC was today handing over 272 pigs and 20 cows to farmers as part of the Government program to eradicate poverty under Operation Wealth Creation.
He said that he will take it upon himself and always move around to check whether the animals given out to farmers are still there.
He asked farmers to imitate him adding that in 2017, the government gave him four cows under NAADS in his district Busoga Jinja Municipality but he now has 15 cows.
Farmers promised to make good use of the opportunity given to them and thanked the government for remembering them.
Journalists from different media houses were also given an opportunity to benefit from the program unlike in other districts.
