RUKUNGIRI RDC TO CLOSE 2 TRADING CENTRES OVER FAILURE TO OBSERVE SOPS

The rukungiri district Covid 19 taskforce yesterday threatened to close Bikurungu and Bwambara trading centers all in Bwambara sub county following revelations that they are currently contributing to rising cases of Covid 19 infections within the district.
Speaking with our reporter after weekly meeting on Covid 19, the chairman Rukungiri district covid 19 taskforce who doubles as the resident district commissioner Mr. Nsubuga Bewayo Stephen confirmed that people and traders within Bwambara and Bikurungu trading centers have failed to compel covid 19 guidelines even as the country continues to register covid 19 cases in the community.
Nsubuga added that the taskforce made a committee that will sensitize these people about deadly covid 19 and if fail to comply; the next meeting will direct the area to close for two weeks
However, Nsubuga explained that covid 19 infections has reduced from 49% to 18% within rukungiri district encouraging people to continue adhering Covid 19 guidelines.
Last week, Rukungiri district received 2,860 AstraZeneca vaccines and the vaccination exercise started yesterday specifically for people who are receiving the second jab.
According to RDC Nsubuga, Over 7,000 people were vaccinated for Covid 19 and they are now to take the second jab
