In Rukungiri—
Parents of St Anthony Padua Secondary School Mabanga in Mabanga Parish, Kebisoni sub county Rukungiri District on Friday stormed the school premises demanding for the resignation of the school Head teacher Turyamuhika Venancio.
On 26. November 2021, the aggrieved parents wrote a letter to the Parish council of Ndama catholic Parish seeking for the removal of the headmaster, accusing him of dictatorship and mismanagement the school since 2007.
However, the Headmaster Turyamuhika Venancio says the letter was written under the mobilization of Byaruhanga Theodore a teacher who was sacked by the School Management Committee.
According to the Headmaster, residents who stormed the school premises were also mobilized by former teacher Byaruhanga Theodore hoping to have him sacked in revenge.
Meanwhile, Byaruhanga Theodore, says the headmaster deserves to be sacked because the school is in shambles as it lacks a credible head, since the current one doesn’t listen to anyone but fires whoever tries to speak out.
The Treasurer of Mabanga Catholic Centre, the foundation body of the school, John Kintu, says there is a lot of outcry from parents about the headmaster.
He says they wrote to the parish council of Mabanga to complain about him, so that action can be taken.
Jacinta Komugiigi whose children study from the school says Venancio does not respect parents. She says he is harsh and usually mistreats students.
She wants authorities to transfer him with hope that a new head gets sanity back to the school.
The school is expected to hold a School Management Committee meeting on 29th December 2021, and discus the way forward.
