RUKUNGIRI TEACHERS RISK LOSING JOBS FOR DODGING COVID 19 VACCINATION

The Rukungiri District Education Officer together with Rukungiri district COVID 19 task force have warned teachers against dodging COVID vaccination saying they risk losing their jobs.

Jackson Turyahumura the DEO Rukungiri said that teachers who don’t want to get vaccinated are a danger to themselves because no untested teacher will be allowed to stand in front of innocent students.

Turyahumura said teachers have no excuse whatsoever against vaccination.

Stephen Nsubuga Bewayo, the RDC Rukungiri also sent a warning to those teachers who want to avoid vaccination that the government is ready to handle them with an iron hand.

He said that they are aware that some teachers want to buy fake certificates but those caught will lose their jobs.

The RDC thanked teachers who turned up in big numbers for vaccination and encouraged the rest of the public to keep observing SOPs.

This message comes in when Rukungiri district has 1012 recoveries out of 1142 positive cases, 22 deaths, remaining with 55 people who are under care since the second wave emerged.
