RWAMPARA COUNCILORS REFUSE TO TURN UP FOR DISTRICT CHAIRPERSON ELECTIONS

The Rwampara district interim district chairperson elections have flopped for second time over lack of quorum.
The election was meant for Thursday last week but it was not held as only four councilors out of seven showed up which was not constituting the quorum of five which was needed.
Three of the district councilors that missed last Thursday who include Jordan Musinguzi of Mwizi, Justine Kakyara of Bugamba and Annah Kansiime of Rugando again failed to turn up yesterday at district headquarters in Kinoni.
Jordan Musinguzi confirmed that as councilors, they had political issues that need to be addressed before turning up for voting.
Annah Kansiime refuted the allegations that the three councilors were bribed 20M to fail the interim elections.
The returning officer electoral commission Rwampara district Nicholas Twinomujuni announced that, as decided by the electoral commission, the district leadership will be elected in 2021 general elections unless otherwise.
The Member of Parliament Rwampara Charles Ngabirano described the incident as unfortunate but promised the people of Rwampara district that, he will consult officials in government on how interim political leadership shall be instituted to run the local government.
