Leaders in Rwampara district are worried over the sorry state of Kinoni Health Centre IV.
Over the weekend Rwampara district Leaders led by the area Members of Parliament; Amos Kankunda, Molly Asiimwe and other stakeholders assessed the situation at Kinoni Health Centre IV.
Molly Asiimwe the woman Member of Parliament Rwampara noted that the facility is still operating in dilapidated buildings and it lacks a Children’s ward.
She said that children and women share the same ward while the maternity ward has only 10 bed capacity but receives 30 pregnant mothers per day.
The legislator added that the facility theater lacks sufficient electricity which puts lives of people at stake.
However as a ray of hope the legislator pledged that as district Leaders they will engage the Ministry of Health about the matter.
MP Amos Kankunda legislator Rwampara County told Journalists that they are going to lobby for funds to construct a modern maternity ward and the general ward which currently has only 20 beds.
Kankunda also pledged to address the issue to the permanent Secretary ministry of health.
According to the hospital in charge the hospital delivers 100 babies every month with an average number of 10 babies per day.
Kinoni Health Centre IV started in 1949 as a dispensary under Ankole Kingdom. It was later elevated to the level of health Centre II in 1982 then to Health Centre III in 2000 and it is apparently at the level of Health Centre IV.
The facility has an enrollment of 42 medical workers and serves the districts of Rwampara, Mbarara, Ntungamo and Sheema.
