RWAMPARA: RUSHANJE GIRLS SCHOOL DORMITORY CATCH FIRE

Fire has burnt a dormitory at Rushanje Girls School dormitory destroying all Property.
The fire gutted the dormitory that hosts 180 students.
Gertrude Atukunda, the Headmistress said the fire broke out at around 8:00 PM as girls were in their classes for prep.
She said that they managed to put out the fire using water from a nearby water tap. She said no student was injured or killed in the fire.
The Rwampara District Police Commander Steven Kamara confirmed the incident and said it was managed by the students, and teachers and by the time the Police Fire brigade that was called in from Mbarara arrived at the school, the fire had been put out.
He said the cause of the fire is yet to be known but inquiries to ascertain the cause have started.
This is the second school dormitory to be burnt in less than a week, one at Mbarara Secondary School in Mbarara City was on Friday last week burnt also destroying students’ property.
