In Masindi—-
A speeding vehicle has knocked and killed a Rwandan national in Masindi district.
The deceased has been only identified as Sivo who has been operating business in Masindi district.
According to Gerald Businge an eyewitness, the incident happened at around 5pm on Wednesday in Bujenje along Masindi – Hoima road.
“They were knocked by the pickup vehicle, the colleague passed on while being evacuated to Masindi hospital while Sivo died on spot.” Businge said.
The two were on motorcycle riding from Hoima side to Masindi before meeting death. By press time the body of Sivo was still at Masindi Hospital Mortuary.
Vincent Muhumuza, Sivo’s employee is asking for government intervention since many people are losing their lives on the same road due to the reckless driving.
ASP Sharon Araku the OC Traffic Masindi CPS recently noted that many accidents are happening at the same road which is still under construction. She said the main cause might be public excitement since the road is still under construction.
She asked the riders and drivers to desist from drinking while driving, and avoid overspending. In less than a month, over seven people have perished in road accidents in Masindi district.
By the time we filed this story, we couldn’t get a comment from ASP Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson over yesterday’s accident.
