Residents of Bufundi Sub County in Rubanda district have decried the poor state of Rwaseyeza Bridge that links Bufundi to Batanda.
Residents say the poor state of the bridge has made it difficult for them to transport their produce and other products such sweet potatoes,
timbers to the market centres.
Some of the residents who include Precious Turyasiima and Vicent Museveni, a boda boda cyclist all residents of Kashasha in Bufundi Sub County and Andrew Arinaitwe, Ben Byarugaba, residents of Butanda sub county, claim that the bridge was washed away last year in
May by heavy rains.
They claim that their pleas to the authorities to work on the bridge for the last ten months have not yielded any results.
They say that the bridge is very risky as residents have improvised with timber off cuts so as to be able to cross. They add that whenever they reach on the bridge while on cars and motorcycles, they leave them carry their produces on head and walk.
The Acting Rubanda District Engineer, Denis Twesigomwe says that he is considering holding meeting with the district roads committee to agree on possible means to ensure that the bridge is repaired soon.
