Head teachers and directors of schools in Ibanda district have been asked to put in place fire extinguishers as the best solution to increased fire out breaks across the country.
The assistant inspector of police, in charge of fire control in Ibanda district, Kenneth Odeya told www.mknewslink.com yesterday that with his staff, they have toured over 100 schools and was shocked to find out that most of them operate without a fire extinguisher which is putting the lives of students and teachers at risk.
He tasked the directors and head teachers to make sure every school will have installed extinguishers by the beginning of first term this year.
Years back, fire gutted the buildings of Kibubura girls secondary school and Alliance senior secondary school both in Ibanda burning them into ashes and students personal property was destroyed, though no death was reported.
