SECURITY GUARD ARRESTED FOR FATAL SHOOTING IN KAZO

Authorities in Kazo District are currently investigating a tragic shooting incident that resulted in the death of Sunday Emmanuel, a 55-year-old peasant and a resident of Kazo II, Kazo Town Council. The incident, which occurred late in the evening on July 15, 2024, was reported to police the following day by the Manager of Saracen Security Company’s Western Uganda branch.
According to SP Samson Kasasira, spokesperson for Rwizi Police, the suspect, identified as Micheal Mujurizi , allegedly shot and killed Emmanuel while on duty patrolling the residence and farm of Ruyondo Kwame. The fatal encounter took place around 9:45 PM when Mujurizi reportedly encountered Emmanuel, who was armed with a machete while gathering firewood on the farm.
Kasasira reported that police detectives went to the scene and recovered one cartridge and confiscated a CAR gun identified by serial number 12053656, along with three live rounds of ammunition. Preliminary findings indicated that Emmanuel had been shot in the back, with the bullet exiting through his chest.
He added that the deceased’s body was then taken to the mortuary at Ruhoko Health Center IV for a postmortem examination, while Micheal was taken into custody to aid in the continuing investigation.
