SECURITY IN SHEEMA MUNICIPALITY BEEFED AHEAD OF TOMORROW ELECTIONS

Security beefed up in Sheema Municipality as voters prepare for polls tomorrow.
The district returning officer Deborah Asiimwe says all electoral officials taking part in tomorrow’s polls been fully trained and urged them to stick to the principles as they conduct the elections.
Asiimwe told www.mknewslink.com that polling materials have also been received in presence of candidates and their agents and assured all stake holders in the election process that Police will take central role in providing security.
She thus warned that anyone caught campaigning or putting on a T-shirt bearing poster of a candidate contesting for any elective post in Sheema Municipality will committee an offence and shall be prosecuted accordingly. She said voting will begin at 7.00am and end at 4:00pm but clarified that those who will be in the line by 4.00pm will be allowed to continue voting.
Emilian Kayima the police spokes person said that security is ready to protect every one during the voting exercise and warned to lock up those who want to cause chaos and disrupts the exercise.
Mwijukye Francis the FDC party supervisor of Sheema Municipality elections said the situation is so tense and that there is massive deployment of soldiers, a lot of intimidation and voter bribery is going on said that as opposition they are ready to anything possible to stop such kind of practice.
