WE SHALL REMOVE AGE LIMIT IN 2021 TO ENABLE MUSEVENI CONTEST FOR ANOTHER TERM—MAJ. GEN. OTAFIIRE

The minister of justice and constitutional affairs Maj. Gen Kainda Otafiire has revealed that NRM members of parliament who are the majority in the house will remove the age limit in the constitution to allow president Museveni run for another term in 2021.
President Museveni will be 77 years of age in 2021, will not be eligible to contest if the constitution is not amended. a president according to the constitution should not be eligible to contest if he is beyond 75 years of age.
On the other hand, The former presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye has vowed before that he will not allow the constitution to be amended to allow president Museveni rule for life. He noted that he will call his supporters allover the country to raise against Museveni and parliament not to amend the constitution.
Otafiire however criticized people calling for the succession debate over the presidency urging that it is too early for the country to engage in this kind of business when the incumbent has just started serving his five year elective term.
At the same function, the chief justice Bart Katureebe said that every day billions of tax payers money is stolen from various government departments and is greatly affecting service delivery more especially in the judiciary sector where a number of Judges have not been recruited due to lack of money to pay them.
Speaking during a function to lay a foundation stone for the construction of Mitooma Justice Center at Mitooma district headquarters, Chief Justice said the current corrupt tendencies in the government run by NRM cadres who were once so disciplined and admired because of their zero tolerance to corruption, have put majority of the people in the country in a dilemma
Katurebe refuted media reports that he blasted IGG for having pardoned two magistrates who were caught red-handed receiving a bribe saying he cannot fight the institution of IGG which is helping them to catch some thieves but hastened to add that he will always complain over something that went wrong and brought to his attention but accorded unadulterated justice
He called upon politicians and religious leaders to sensitize people to stop defiling young girls saying such practice cause shame to the country.
Justice and constitution affairs minister Kahinda Otafire directed police to arrest any man or wife who beats the other saying such barbaric acts break the law and are triggering domestic violence which is not acceptable in the country.
