SHEEMA: 5 TEACHERS ARRESTED AS POLICE HUNT FOR SCHOOL DIRECTORS OVER TEACHING AMIDST COVID 19

Police in Sheema district have arrested 5 teachers and 37 pupils after they were caught red-handed running normal studies amidst COVID 19 pandemic.
Ugandan President on Sunday 6th June 2021 ordered for the closure of schools for 42 days starting Monday 7th June 2021 as a part of tighter measures introduced to contain the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
The president also ordered teachers to use the break to get vaccinated as it will be a requirement for their return to work.
However, 5 teachers and 37 pupils of Bugongi preparatory primary school were found exercising normal learning disregarding the presidential directives.
According to Sheema DPC Steven Neragire, they were tipped off by parents that teachers and school directors were forcing them to take their children back to school.
Nelson Tugume the Mayor Bugongi Town council condemned the act adding that the school is paving for the spread of COVID 19 thus they should be punished seriously.
Police are still hunting for Bugongi preparatory School directors while pupils have been released to go back home.
